Lyttleton Smell

One of the consistent characteristics that define Lyttleton as a port is the smell of timber. It is amazing the quantity of logs that arrives by train or truck to the port and it is shipped by boat to the world. Where does all of this trees come from and how do they grow so fast?  Nowadays the Pinus radiata represent 90% of the country's plantation forests.
