Side trip to Hobbiton to mingle with the tourists - the attention to detail was admirable. Employment for 130 (what seemed like) thirteen year olds, driving the frequent buses and acting as Guide Rangis.
Although we saw no hobbits at Hobbiton, we did get to see some friendly Orks as we passed through Auckland.

Destination Cape Reinga light house. Upon approaching we were treated to a spectacular display of squillions of buzzing dragon flies - I'd never seen such before. I speculated it was because I'd brought my Tombow pens all the way to the end of the country. And for those enriched by Trivial Pursuit evenings, tombow of course, is the Japanese word for dragon fly :-)
Thanks for taking us on your grand tour of Northland Scott! I hope you did some bombs of the Opononi jetty too?
ReplyDeleteThanks Murray, it was a a bit too fresh that day for bombs, and we may have disrupted the fishing. But we did cadge a sand board from Swiss and did some sand boarding.
