We sat in the middle of a soggy paddock just to the north of Urenui. Before us was the 1879 abattoir that served the Urenui township for 100 years. A two layered roof for ventilation, rimu board and batten exterior and framed in 2"x 4" rimu, it is still standing 130 years later - sort of. Well worth capturing now. Can we consider this urban? Well it is just on the edge of town, and someone lived in it once, so we are teetering on the margins.
Interesting subject Scott. Your colour application has made the building look quite beautiful despite it’s original use!
