Pomeroy´s brewery

The 27th of February in Portugal is usually a grey winter day but on this side of the world things changed and Liliana´s birthday was suuny and warm so she was delighted. The Pomeroy´s brewery is located 5 minutes walking from our house, there was live music, colourful beers and great snacks, Eva loved the football table.

Street view

View of Manchester street, a fenced lot next to the "roofless" Odeon theatre where nature is coming back. Sketch made by Liliana.

Taylors Mistake

On this day I had some friends surfing down there. It was windy and I had to clamp my watercolours to the sketchbook and sit it on a fence. When I finished there was a blank area at the top left corner, then at home Liliana "demanded" me to do something about it.

Victoria Park

These guys were having a lot of fun playing soccer with 'Bumper Balls'. They look like a small zorb that your legs stick out of. They were hitting each other pretty hard and bouncing in all directions - hilarious to watch, but must be even better to do. Apparently you can rent them from www.bumperball.co.nz.

Not much sketching has been happening lately unfortunately – too busy at work. Last week I decided I'd try knocking out a super quick sketch each day on my way to or from work through Victoria Park to keep the hands going. I'm a bit out of practice with the quick stuff, so this is the first one worth posting.

The Land of Oz

The grass is not always greener...  especially in 40+ C heat. However the 'Lucky Country' is always enjoyable to visit.

The you know what

An eastern grey and one of those guys who can hold his breath under water for 5 min

The one on the 5c coin, which they still have.  We visited the Royal Mint where you can spend three dollars and make one dollar yourself - perhaps our worst investment - but still fun.

We spotted a few koalas on Raymond Island, usually sleeping in the crook of a branch.

A tandoori in Ned Kelly town - Beechworth

National Gallery of Oz

Gold of the Incas exhibition

Our accommodation - with West Gate Bridge out the port hole

"The Termi"  - Gippsland Lakes - Railway Terminus Hotel - Bairnsdale

Other end of my favourite Railway Station (Flinders St)

Story book sand sculptures - Frankston - they use brickie's sand and spray the finished item to hold in place - this time 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang'

Gippsland Lakes - Newlands Arm

New Plymouth Sidewalk

One last one from January. Warm summers days with bright day sunlight. I usually like to find some place in the shade to draw during these months. Devon Street, with the storefront overhangs and rows of trees is always appealing. As I looked down the sidewalk, I was trying to draw the very bright sunny bits and the oasis-like shady bits. I really wanted this to be a drawing of shade, I guess.
