Shade at Gentleman's Quarters

Intriguing to see Mt Taranaki appear on the back of a boy's head, and various korus along the side of his 'shade'. Jetcharm Barbers shop and Gentlemen's Quarters is where you can buy a coffee and sit in their outside seats or view their tiny boutique gallery.

Time for a Haircut

A sketch at the barbers that I go to. I like how the decor is a bit old-timey - a real barbershop. Snip snip, chop chop, talk some shop. Pitter patter, a bit of banter, and you're done.

Beers, Boots, Barbers and Books in Wellington

I like to live in Christchurch and I'm proud of the achievements "my town" has made so far, but before our Easter weekend in Wellington I didn't quite realise how much I missed "normal city life". I just wanted to wander through the streets and have a sense of continuity... and that was what we chose to do, we spent time in cool cafes, found portuguese shoes in fancy shops, Mario decided he would have his hair cut in a proper barbershop (were I used the waiting time for a quick sketch) and we entered in all the bookshops we could find (including Arty Bees were I went trough the pages of the sketch book "NZ corner shops" that I guess is also from Don Donovan). I love my town, but until it is fully up and running, I guess we will be returning the Wellington from time to time.

The Godfather Barbers and Moon Bar

Last Friday I had my haircut after work at The Godfather Barbers in Dixon Street.  It was busy so I had to wait, which was good as it gave me time to do this sketch.  I like it there, they are friendly and do good haircuts, and I like the barber chairs.

Later on in the evening I was at Moon Bar in Newtown. We weren't planning on going there, but it was pouring with rain when we got off the bus and it's near the bus stop so we stopped in for a while before walking home.  A band was playing, I think there name is Ready Set.  I liked them.
