book barn

If you love old barns like I do, with the all the characteristic exposed timber trusses, high ceiling and mysterious darkness, you absolutely have to go to this one in Chertsey - Canterbury.  Just to complement this amazing sight the interior is completely packed with old books and some LP records. You have find your way through these piles of knowledge, it´s easy to spend hours looking around or even sketching.

New Zealand Odyssey

I walked past Arty Bees second hand book shop last week and this book caught my eye in the window.  'New Zealand Odyssey' by Don Donovan and Euan Sarginson.  It is a collection of watercolours and photos of places throughout New Zealand.  The watercolours and text by Don and photos by Euan.  It's a lovely book and I really like Don's watercolours.  I bought the book.  Sadly Don Donavan died in May 2014 and Euan Sarginson in 2004.

Grey Lynn's 'Little free libraries'

Well this is a interesting new addition to Grey Lynn – these Little libraries as they are apparently called in the US are appearing. There are three that I'm aware of so far, this one on Sackville Street and below on Richmond Road - apparently there is one on Vermont Street as well.

They're free for anyone to use, so why don't you 'take one out - and put one in' as the note on the glass says?
