Assembled Ensemble

Tupare is a former famous, adzed private home with extensive gardens now administered by the City. Set down near the river it periodically hosts a market and musical events.  It was a pleasure listening to the Ensemble as I sketched on this warm summer afternoon.  I drew standing up as I had to move about a bit to view each of the players so it wasn't exactly what a camera would have shot.

A week or so later one of our fellow sketchers who plays sax with these guys was even able to name who was who, so I must have got some part of them right (unless he was guessing by their instruments!)

Wellington Jazz Festival 2016

Thoroughly enjoyed drawing and listening to these guys play Glenn Miller tunes at Meow Bar last week when the Jazz Festival was on.

Taranaki Multi Ethnic Extravaganza 2016

This sketch was done when we were watching the performances at the Taranaki Multi Ethnic Extravaganza. The group performing on stage was a mix of Maori and Irish musicians. The songs with the Maori vocals of Morgana James sounded really amazing.
