Okains Bay gas station

On my way to the Okains Bay beach, one of the bay of the Banks Peninsula, I came across this gas station, like much of the thing that I enjoy sketching it was old, rusty and it had a few layers of paint.  I left my girls on the estuary for a swim and came back to draw it, I was excited with this surprise after such a long drive it felt like a reward, so I knew I could easily spend a couple of hours there sketching, and that is was happened.

  1. Love it! It's a popular sketch spot now isn't it - I saw a Lis Steel sketch of it recently.

  2. Yes I saw that too, apparently everyone likes it and the Maori museum looks promising that´s my goal next time.

  3. Yes that museum is amazing. I could have sketched all day there if I'd had more time.
